Statement of Faith
-
We believe the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the complete revelation of God's will for salvation and the supreme standard for all Christian faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16; 1 Peter 1:23-25; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Romans 16:25-26)
-
We believe that God is eternally one, yet has revealed himself as three distinct persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are distinguishable in their roles, but indivisible in their divine nature.
-
The Father is the source of all things, the one from whom the Son is eternally begotten and from whom the Holy Spirit proceeds. He is the ultimate authority. (1 Corinthians 15:24-28) The Bible presents the Father as someone we can have a personal relationship with, addressing him in prayer as "Our Father in heaven." (Matthew 6:9)
-
The Son, Jesus Christ, is the eternal "Word" of God (John 1:1) who became flesh. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. (Hebrews 1:3)
The Son redeemed humanity from sin. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on a cross as a sacrifice for our sins, rose again and ascended to the Father, conquering death. Jesus is the one and only mediator between God and humanity. It is through him that we can have a relationship with the Father. (1 Timothy 2:5)
-
The Holy Spirit, the Helper promised by Jesus, is active in the world today. He inspired the Holy Scriptures and convicts people of sin. When a person believes and repents, the Holy Spirit gives them new life and marks them as belonging to God. By living within us, He imparts spiritual gifts and develops the character of Christ. The Holy Spirit is also our guide, teacher, and comforter.
-
We believe man was created good and upright, for God said, “Let us make man in Our image, after our likeness”. But man, by voluntary transgression, fell and his only hope of redemption is through faith in Jesus Christ the Son of God. (Genesis 1:26-31, 3:1-7, Romans 5:12-21, Ephesians 2:8)
-
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, a spiritual community of all born again believers. Its purpose is to fulfill the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:19-20) We believe in the importance of local church gatherings for worship, teaching, prayer, encouragement, fellowship and celebration.
-
We believe that church ministry is fourfold in purpose including evangelism, building up the saints toward the image of Christ, worship of God, meeting basic human needs out of compassion and love.
-
Upon receiving Christ the believer is immediately united with the Holy Spirit. We also believe there are subsequent experiences with the Holy Spirit including empowerment for service.
-
We believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as prophecy, healing, miracles, and speaking in tongues, are active and available for the Church today. They are given by the Spirit to build up the body of Christ and to demonstrate God's compassion, presence and power to the world. (1 Corinthians 12:4-11)
-
We believe that divine healing is provided for in the atonement of Christ and is available to believers through faith and prayer. (Psalm 103:2-3, Isaiah 53:5, Matthew 8:17, Mark 16:17-18, 1 Peter 2:24, James 5:14-16)
-
We believe that marriage, as defined by God in Scripture, is the exclusive union between one man and one woman. We believe that God's design for sexual intimacy is reserved solely for this marital relationship. (Genesis 2:24)
-
We believe in the personal, imminent, and bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ to receive His Church and to consummate His kingdom on earth. (Revelation 20:1-6) We believe in a final judgement in which the wicked dead will be raised and judged according to the works they have done. Whoever's name is not found in the Book of Life will be consigned to eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire. (Revelation 20:11-15)
-
We believe in a literal establishment of a new Heaven and new Earth where righteousness perpetually dwells. (Revelation 21:1-4)
